Painting the New West

The winter and spring were busy cleaning my studio and setting up my new easel. I took some quiet time to paint a few studio pieces from plein air studies as well as to get out into the field for some plein air painting.

"Ghost Ranch Grace" was painted in the studio using a field study (above),  sketches, and photo references gleaned from a painting excursion to Abiquiu a few years ago."Otero Canyon" (below) was painted en plein air on a beautiful Sunday in December.

I recently painted "Morass" at the Open Space Visitors Center and "Sandia View" from the base of the tram during our mild early spring.

This summer and fall will be very busy painting seasons. I am honored to have been juried into the Santa Fe Plein Air Fiesta in April and Plein Air Southwest in May. I will also be participating in the Corrales Garden Tour Paintout in May, the Wild Rivers Paintout in July, and the Plein Air Artists of Colorado Paintout in Durango in October. Additionally, I will be exhibiting at numerous regional shows. Stay tuned!
